• registration of political parties, national trade unions, international and national associations and their unions, republican state-public associations, national and international foundations established in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce, organizational structures of international associations, established in the territory of foreign states, permanent international arbitration (arbitration) courts;

• registration of other non-profit organizations in the cases stipulated by legislative acts;

• conducting of the State registers of political parties, national trade unions, international and national public associations and their unions;

• registration of anthems, badges, pennons, ties of political parties, national trade unions, international and national public associations and their unions, national state-public associations;

• monitoring the compliance of the activities of political parties, national trade unions, international and national public associations and their unions), national and international foundations established in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, with the Belarusian law and their statutes;

• monitoring the compliance of the activities of the republican state-public associations with their statutes;

• issuance of certificates to the heads of political parties, national trade unions, international and national public associations and their unions, national and international foundations established in the territory of the Republic of Belarus;

• issuance of permits to manufacture seals of political parties, national trade unions, international and national public associations, and their unions, national state-public associations, national and international funds established in the Republic of Belarus, permanent international arbitration courts and other non-profit organizations registered by the Ministry of Justice;

• provision of the information contained in the State Register of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs related to the legal entities, registered by the Ministry of Justice;

• provision of the information contained in the State Register of public associations and their unions, the State register of political parties and their unions;

• guidance to the employees of Central Departments of Justice of regional and Minsk city executive committees that are entitled to carry out registration of local public associations, registration of the organizational structures of political parties, trade unions and other public associations, as well as monitoring their activity;

• generalization of the application practice of legislation on public associations in Belarus, organization of seminars, meetings with the employees of the Central Departments of Justice of regional and Minsk city executive committees, other government and local executive bodies, with the representatives of all kinds of public associations on the issues of registration of political parties , trade unions, other public associations and their unions.

The Department’s activities statistic as of July 1, 2011:

15 political parties and 985 party organizations;

36 trade unions and 22856 trade union organizations;

2359 public associations, including 230 international, 682 national and 1447 local;

36 300 organizational structures of associations;

26 registered unions of associations;

109 foundations (10 International 5 national, 94 local).

579 Physical training and sports associations;

390 charitable associations, 220 youth associations (33 of them children), educational, cultural, recreational;

206 public associations, 110 public associations of national minorities, 83 public associations of invalids of war and labor veterans, 80 science and technology associations, 67 public associations of conservationists, 49 creative associations, 31 women's associations, 544 other public associations .

In the first half of 2011 the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus and the Central Departments of Justice of the regional executive committees and Minsk city executive committee have registered 51 new public association (6 national and 45 local), 11 new foundations (1 international, 1 national and 9 local), 1 trade union of an organization and 1 association.

During the 6 months of the year 9 new organizational structures of political parties, 273 new organizational structure of trade unions, 999 new organizational structures and other public associations were registered.
